Life is not always pretty. We climb steep cliffs and scramble under thorny brambles to reach the mountain top where the view is spectacular and briefly we feel accomplished, having made it to the summit. But we recognize our journey must continue, so we trek down the mountainside to the desert valley below. With optimism we know eventually the thirst and hunger must subside, believing that the longing for more will dissipate. The struggle is only temporary. When we need it most, we are greeted by the safety net of a peaceful meadow punctuated with poppies and wildflowers as far as the eye can see. There is a glimmer of water in the distance.

We discover an elusive oasis to rest our tired bones and spirit by a stream where orchids nod on its banks and date palms rustle gently in the cool breezes. Nourished, we have the strength to turn the page and step into the next chapter. With a deep breath we silently reckon with the black hole of grief that nearly consumed us after losing a loved one so dear that having hope seemed impossible. Phrases like ‘They’re still with us,’ that once offered no comfort become infinitely profound. Undoubtedly we, they, and you are one in the same.

The Raven watches over the winding path ahead and trust emerges from a deep knowing you are divinely supported by the cosmos and have always been held by Mother Earth’s embrace. She reminds you, love- both given and received- is the quietest luxury of all. Shedding the heavy baggage, the realization that you are inherently worth the investment becomes crystal clear; confidently you venture on to life’s next destination. What a wonderful discovery to find your inner light, thankfully, still shines as bright as the North Star. You are the victory.
